Shaikh Salman’s statement came during a meeting on Friday with Iran Football Federation President Ali Kafashian during his visit to Bahrain. Also present were AFC General Secretary Dato’ Alex Soosay and other AFC officials.

FFIRI- AFC President Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifah has stressed the continuing need for AFC Member Associations to keep lines of communication open and engage with development programmes in order to improve the standard of football throughout the continent.
The AFC President also noted that Iran’s development programmes should be used as a benchmark for other Member Association currently working to improve standards within their own countries.
The two Presidents also discussed other key aspects of Asian football and future plans for the game in Asia, including how the AFC and the Iran Football Federation could work together to achieve common aims.
Kafashian also took time out to praise Shaikh Salman for the progress and development seen during his time as AFC President, adding that the Iran Football Federation would continue to provide its support to aid the growth of Asian Football.
